Yeast Infection

Yeast Infection

The more I read on health in general, the more this yeast problems seems to be discussed. Do you know what causes yeast infection? It is the fungi present in your skin. Areas filled with moisture would be right place for fungal growth. The more the moisture, the more it would thrive. When you shift the location of fungal growth, a yeast infection occurs. Breaks in the skin can allow organisms to enter. In most other instances the skin is geared to handle fungal complications.

Interestingly only adult women get yeast infection but never a child. When a child gets oral thrush, it does not affect any other part of the body. Parents usually hear about the existence of such misconceptions during the years when their child is growing. Children, like any of us, may be prone to be infected by Candida, which need not be only in the mouth area. These infections usually occur when the location is warm, humid and moist.

Yeast infection causes:

If Candida loves a wet and warm area, where else can it find it other than the diapers of your toddler who is just learning toilet habits? Which are the favorite places for Candida to breed? Well, those lovable folds on the body of the child and the areas covered by a heat-trapping diaper. In terms of looks it is similar like thrush with the same white spots and smells like bead that’s baking. Take special care during summer months to keep your baby dry and clean. This would help in the prevention of yeast infection.

The reason why Candida thrives more in women and girls is because the genital area has more folds for the yeast infection to grow. Male children are also affected as they also wear the same types of diapers which trap heat. Ponder over this: the conditions which result in diaper rash would be the same for Candida overgrowth. So you ought to take the same preventive steps for both the baby girl and the boy.

Symptoms warning of a probable yeast infection

It all depends on the area of infection and the symptoms would vary accordingly. In the case of a vaginal infection, the symptoms include a burning sensation accompanied by thick and white or thin and watery discharge. The most frequent symptom for oral thrush would be some thick white patches on top of swollen red skin in the mouth. It is less itchy than outer skin infections but can bleed if you remove the white part. Eating and drinking thus becomes painful and children with this infection must drink lots of water.

You need to remain alert for the causes of yeast infections. Although it may not be fatal, it might lead to future problems if ignored. The symptoms which are mentioned above are the most common ones however, should you require further advice speak to your doctor.
