Slippery Elm Bark is a soothing herb for many areas of the body, both inside and out. While talking of its benefits I still find it a shame that so much of this blog is becoming health driven - much by me! A sign?
Anyway, taken internally slippery elm, which has mucilage properties can be a demulcent and emollient to ease digestive tissues.
In my opinion its best used in powder form to make tea. Although not very tasty it does cover the stomach and esophagus with gel like liquid (its mucilage properties) which protects them from acid. Usually one cup of tea is good enough to have zero heartburn through the night and in the morning.
